FATHER'S DAY WEEKEND FUN

US Open Weekend?

NASCAR at Michigan Speedway?

A trip to Cabela's?

Riding in a Corvette at Texas Motor Speedway?

It must be Father's Day weekend.

The fam ventured out to Cabela's where there was much festivity to be had.

Free food, bikers everywhere, a chili cook-off, a dunk tank, and of course there were plenty of glorious beasts that met their fateful and sudden demise via the hunter adorning the walls.

Afterward we took to the track at Texas Motor Speedway where Laura had arranged for me to ride in a Corvette for 5 "Hot Laps" over 100 mph.

The ride was great!

I actually got more than 5 laps because on lap 2 the driver of the car lost control in a turn and we fishtailed into the grass (at about 110 mph) did two 360's and almost slammed into the fence.

It was raining and very sloppy on the track--he was able to keep the car out of the fence but we basically nearly died a sudden, fiery, albeit glorious, death.

While spinning toward the grass, I only thought about this:

Not really what you want.

After looking around and at each other and then nervously laughing it off we had to pull back thru the starting area and inspect the car for damage.

We then drove about 7 more laps.

The wreck occurred at the other end of the track so Laura and the lads saw nothing, which is probably better.

enough of the witty fables!

enough analysis of what might have been!

enough pschychobabble about the unrealistic and illogical nature of world peace!

enough wondering why anyone willingly visits Malaysia!

enough wondering if your toilet is going to unstop itself!

on with the pics!

Rick the Biker. He recently bought this Honda for 9 grand then took the rest of the money he had left and built his wife a Honda Goldwing "Trike." Oh my. Truth is stranger than fiction. Carson longs to feel the open road in his towheaded mop while Joshy
looks on.

Joshy likes the bike but would rather try to burn himself on the undercarriage. Really.

Carson takes down the dunk tank man after hitting the button with 10 consecutive tosses. His throws were accurate but lacked foot pounds of energy at impact.

Days of Thunder. Followed by heavy rain. And some lightning.

Car #7. The machine of death.

Roaring down the frontstretch.

Dismounting the banana colored beast.

I'm really struggling to realize how A) the 'Vette was able to reach such cantankerous speeds with such a weighty front seat payload, and B) how this weighty front seat payload allowed a loss of traction (see: sandbags in rear of pickups in icy weather) even under precipatace circumstances such as yours.

And let's keep the blog knocking to a minimum shall we? I think it's just a classic example of blog envy. And I don't think you have to drag the innocent Malaysians into this "psychobabble" mudslinging harangue...let's just keep it G for the children.
